Why Apply?

"Once the student graduates into a newsroom, she - or he - is assigned to cover or edit subjects which are steadily growing more complex and more technical. Nuclear energy, for example. Budgets in the millions, billions, or even trillions. Laws which are evolving constantly through judicial interpretation and re-interpretation ... A journalist's need for more and more expertise and more and more knowledge never lets up."

— Gene Roberts, former Philadelphia Inquirer executive editor
and managing editor of the New York Times

As a fellow of the Knight Center for Specialized Journalism, you will become one of the many working journalists who The Knight Center has helped prepare to cover complex subjects. Since our inception in 1987, more than 2,700 journalists from nearly 500 news organizations have studied at the center. View our upcoming seminars here.
